#31 Magical Curves of Cuetzalan and the Eastern Sierra

The colors of the Sierra. Meet the ancestors. Caves and waterfalls. The viewpoint. Green and hot springs.

Experience

On the road to Cuetzalan the landscape you will transported from the plains and lakes to a green and leafy world where water is again a problem. Small and quaint villages that preserve the flavor of yesteryear. A trip to the most fascinating corners of the Sierra Magic East.

1 The first stop is Zacapoaxtla, a small mountain town in quiet streets and colorful facades. Walk the pleasant Zócalo, its portals, and the beautiful parish of San Pedro. A detour to the magical town of Tlatlauquitepec under the Cerro Cabezon, to know its beautiful  Plaza de Armas and the Convent of the Assumption, one of the oldest in Latin America.

2 Come up Jonotla, a strategic point, because from the viewpoint of the rock on clear days the panoramic covers both slopes of the Sierra.  Here is worshiped Tepeyotli still -is an indigenous-sanctuary and remains a

place of worship for the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared engraved in the rock.

3 Returns to Zacapoaxtla to continue the way to Cuetzalan. If you're traveling with your family, around Cuetzalan'll find ecotourism lodges and several waterfalls (Las Brisas, La Olla, la Gloria, El Salto), ranches and caves (Gruta Aventura) to spend a weekend full of activities in nature.

4 Magical Town of Cuetzalan well worth a long walk through its streets, which retain the flavor of yesteryear. Start at the Main Plaza, and loiter looking magical places, from the square to the Church of Jarritos. We recommend that you do not miss the Sunday Tianguis, with flying show.

5 A mere 8 km of Cuetzalan is one of the most important archaeological sites in the state Yohualichan, located in the center of a small Indian village.
