#26 The traditional architecture: tile and quarry

The red tiles. Ailerons flying over the streets. Cantera gray. White walls and facades of all colors. Blacksmith and wood

Experience

A walk through the villages of the Magic Sierra is a walk back in time. The Magical Towns have preserved the character of places where tradition dictates. Modernity arrives and seems to stop in the garden arcaded squares, not daring to touch the stone walls. Sober facades in the large houses, imposing walls and detail of indigenous artist in temples. The tradition is now protected and is expressed in thousand colors.

The cobbled streets of Cuetzalan, its slopes, squares and alleys, provide shade and shelter from the rain the walker. Quarry walls, white walls and austere, with the occasional red Zócalo make this town a paradise for photographers, like the steep streets of villages that cling  to the hill as Pahuatlan, Xochitlan or Xicolapa.

The roofs of two typical waters of the region protruding from the walls to find each other in a protective gesture also Zacatlan, Zacatlán where the facades compete for the title of the most beautiful. Deep ocher, red and white colors with iron balconies or wood. Stone walls and cobbled streets, open spaces and the majesty of the quarry carved by local artist.

Under Zacatlan portals, Zacapoaxtla, Zapotitlan of Mendez, Pahuatlan, Xicotepec of Juarez or Tetela of Ocampo life happens, are the people. Across the Sierra is a perfect color harmony in combination with metal and wood. A harmony that becomes  Chignahuapan and Tlatlauquitepec and frenzy of color in their facades and portals, dyed intensity.
