#24 Connecting to the origin

Men who fly like birds and dance turned into quetzals. Offerings and processions. Indians and Turks. Dead altars. Hooded and shackled.

Experience

Survive indigenous magic and spirituality in the Sierra, where it is not difficult to find yet offerings in rivers and caves. In local festivals you will see the traditional dances of masks, flying, Negritos, aclatlaxquis or quetzals. Zacatlán, Pahuatlán, San Pablito and Yohualinchan welcome visitors during Ethnic festivals and “huapangueadas”. Other locations also preserve traditions that attract thousands of visitors, as the Huey Atlixcayotl in Atlixco, the day Xicotepec Xochipila in Juarez or Ritual Hip Mole in Tehuacan. . If your schedule does not allow you to get away, Sundays at noon at the House of Culture of Puebla no display of folk dances.

Months before the  day of the Dead Dead landscape Puebla dyed the color of the cempasúchil (marigold flower). 

Huaquechulaopens its doors to locals and visitors to admire the  

the monumental art altars, in San Gabriel Chilac offerings and rituals take on a unique character, and similar rites are held in Tochimilco or San Pablito. Enjoy contests altars in Puebla, floral carpets and skulls parade in Atlixco, and the  Festival of Light and Life in Chignahuapan.

Coming soon to the  carnival of Huejotzingo Huejotzingo and ensures a good place to witness the battle of carabiners sound that huehues (men disguised in masks) star, converted into Turkish and Zacapoaxtlas Indians.

Easter is also very traditional, especially Friday processions of Puebla and Atlixco, where shackled walking through a flower bed. In Xicotepec Juarez Huaquechula and Huejotzingo the ordeal is staged. Do not miss the popular Pahuatlán Fair and Carnival in Pahuatlán and San Pablito.
